Quick answer: Report a member from the three-dot menu (⋮) on their profile or in your conversation with them. You can block a member from the same menu.
- Block when you just don't want contact. The member can't view your profile, contact you, or appear in your matches, and our team isn't involved.
- Report when someone breaks our rules. Reporting also blocks the member, and our Trust & Safety team reviews every report.
- Blocking is permanent and can't be undone, and there's no list of members you've blocked.
- Reports are anonymous. The member isn't told that you blocked or reported them.
- For privacy, we don't share the outcome of an investigation.
- Can't report in the app? Contact Customer Support with screenshots, the profile name, and when it happened.
Block or report?
- Block when you're simply not interested in a member and want to stop interacting with them. Nothing has to be wrong.
-
Report when a member breaks our Terms of Service or makes the community less safe, for example:
- Offensive, abusive, or harassing messages
- Fake profiles or suspected fraud
- Inappropriate or explicit content
- Anyone who appears to be under 18. See How do I report someone I believe is under 18?
- Any other behavior that breaks our Terms of Service
Please save reports for real concerns. If you're just not interested in someone, block them instead.
How to block
- From a chat: open the conversation, tap the three-dot menu (⋮) at the top of the chat, select Block, and confirm.
- From a profile: open the member's profile, tap the three-dot menu (⋮) at the top of their profile, select Block, and confirm.
To skip a profile you're not interested in, tap the dismiss X on their profile instead. You don't need to block them.
Blocking removes the member from your matches and messages, and they aren't told. Blocking is permanent and can't be undone. There's also no blocked list, so you can't look someone up again later. Make sure you don't want to contact the person before you confirm.
How to report
Report a message
- Open the conversation with the message.
- Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.
- Select Report.
- Choose a reason, add any details, and follow the prompts.
Report a profile
- Open the member's profile.
- Tap the three-dot menu (⋮).
- Select Report.
- Choose a reason, add any details, and follow the prompts.
Reporting a member also blocks them, so they can no longer view your profile or contact you.
What happens after you report
- We review it. Our Trust & Safety team reviews every report.
- We investigate. We look at the reported account's activity and history.
- We take action. Depending on what we find, this can be a warning or a permanent ban.
Reports are anonymous, and for privacy reasons we don't share the outcome of an investigation.
If you're in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first. To report financial fraud, contact the FTC at 1-877-FTC-HELP or the FBI's IC3 at ic3.gov.
If you can't report in the app
Sometimes the report option isn't there any more — the other member blocked you first, they deleted or hid their account, the conversation is gone, or you no longer have access to your own account. You can still report them: contact Customer Support with the details below. We can act on an account even when you can no longer see it, and a report sent this way is just as anonymous as one made in the app.
What to include in your report
The more of this you can give us, the faster we can identify the account and act on it. Send whatever you have — a partial report is still worth making.
- Screenshots. The single most useful thing you can send. See below for what makes one usable.
- The profile name as it appeared, plus their age, city, photos or job if you remember them.
- A link to the profile, or the profile ID, if you still have one.
- When it happened — the date and rough time of the messages or the profile you saw.
- What happened, in your own words.
- Anything they gave you off the app — a phone number, email address, social media handle or website, and any payment app username, wallet address or bank details if they asked you for money.
- The email address on your own account, so we can match the report to you.
Screenshots that help us
- Capture the whole screen rather than a crop. The name and photo at the top of a chat are often how we identify the account.
- Include timestamps wherever they appear.
- Send the whole conversation in order, not a single message — context matters, and so does what came before it.
- Add a screenshot of the profile itself as well as the chat, if you can still open it.
- Don't blur or crop out phone numbers, links, handles or usernames. Those details are how we find other accounts run by the same person.
- Attach the image files with Add file on the form. Messages you've retyped are harder for us to verify.
- Please don't send intimate or explicit images, even as evidence. Describe them and tell us where they appeared instead — we can find them without a copy.
If someone shared an intimate image of you, see How do I report an intimate image shared without my consent?
